The History of a brand

Gvtarra was born in 1910. It was founded by Hilario Sánchez in the Navarrese locality of Azagra, which gave its name to the brand under which the preserves were sold for almost 60 years: "La Azagresa". Over four generations the Sánchez family was able to maintain the food-preserving tradition of the Ribera del Ebro and took the company to the head of the Spanish vegetable preserves market. In 1972 the company was established as a public limited company and began to sell its preserves under the name of Gvtarra. At that time the brand had already become a reference in the sector, as a pioneering company in bottled vegetable conserves.

It was in the 1990s when Gvtarra acquired the land in Villafranca (Navarre), where it now has its head office and production centre. In 2007, Conservas Hijos de Manuel Sánchez Basarte, S. A. became a part of the Riberebro Group.
